An Easter Basket for Anna

I know, Easter was yesterday. I'm late. Oh well. We've been enjoying the girls' Spring Break, which just ended. We didn't go anywhere this year, we just mostly hung out together at home. I have to say, I really, really enjoyed having Sarah home from kindergarten all week. I feel like I don't get to see her as often now that she is in "real" school. I took them to lunch a couple of times, and we went to a craft day with the mom's club. Then on Saturday Elliot and I took the girls to lunch and then to see the new movie "Horton Hears A Who." It was Anna's first trip to the movie theater, and really made a big impression on her .... she fell asleep in her daddy's lap half-way through! Sarah loved it, but she still doesn't like how loud the sound is at the theater. If you haven't seen it yet, and you have young kids ... GO. It is very cute, and very Dr. Seuss-ish.

On Sunday we went to Easter mass, and even took Anna with us rather than taking her to the nursery. She was so good, and so excited to be with all of us. I still can't help but shudder when I think of how difficult the transition was for Sarah at this age!! I still have nightmares remembering all the times I had to pull her out from UNDERNEATH the pew in front or behind us. Or how about the time she ran up to the altar at Christmas Eve mass when she was almost three?! She really has grown up a lot since then. =)

After church we went to some friends' house for the afternoon. We really enjoyed the yummy food and the good conversation. The kids got to hunt for Easter eggs, which the loved.

And today, at last ... BACK TO SCHOOL!!! =)

Here's just one little shot of Miss Anna with her Easter basket ... on her head.

A New Place for Art

I've been looking for some kind of antique cabinet to put in the breakfast room, to store the girls' art supplies. Imagine how thrilled I was to find this gorgeous antique cabinet! The store owner said its called a pot belly kitchen cabinet because the two lower drawers are big gins shaped like a pot belly. =) How fun is that?! Anyway, its working out great for storing all the crayons, markets, paper, color books, etc. for the girls. The main thing is that its all in one central location, and they can get to it themselves. They both just love to color and draw these days. Now if I can just find a nice antique table/chairs to replace what I currently have!!

Here's one of the new cabinet, and a few of the girls exploring their artistic sides. =) The ones of the girls were actually taken before we got the new cabinet.

A Valentine Leftover

I've been trying to catch up on some of my older editing this weekend. I'm all caught up on client work, but I've got a huge backlog of my personal photos to get to. And yes, MOMS club, I'm finally getting to those Halloween shots!! =) I tend to edit in chunks, working on a group of photos and then switching to another group. I got a big chunk of the Halloween ones done, and had to take a break for a quickie from my girls' Valentine's Day session. Enjoy!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow?

Snow, in Huntsville???!! Yep. We got a bit of snow Friday night/Saturday morning, and it actually stuck to the ground for a little while. Granted, it wasn't very much, but the girls still got a big kick out of it. They were so excited to go out and play in the snow. If you look close you can see it was still snowing in some of the shots. My Florida transplants didn't last long out there though ... they complained that it was TOO COLD!! =)

Fashionably attired, Sarah tries to make a snow angle while Anna observes.

Check out this fashion statement!

Sarah managed a tiny snowball. =)

The view from our yard, looking at the back of our house. Crooked, I know. Way too lazy to fix.

My Anna is THREE?!

Yesterday my baby turned three. I'm not sure how that happened, since it seems like we just brought her home from the hospital. I can still vividly remember going to the hospital for a scheduled c-section, the nervous anticipation, praying she would arrive healthy and safe. Now I've turned around and she's already three. I know, I know, she's still a little thing, and when I turn around again she'll probably be asking for the keys to the car. But for some reason this birthday seems to mark the end of her being my baby. Maybe its because she has become so independent. She can do so many things for herself (and insists on doing them!). She carries on real conversations with us ... ones we can actually understand. She sings multiple verses to the songs she loves. She knows how to go the pantry and dig out what she's looking for (not a good thing). Sigh. She's growing up.

Here are a few shots from her birthday party yesterday. It was just us, plus my mom. She enjoyed opening her presents, and even better ... the CAKE! =)
